(Two Scholarship offerings)

DANIEL E. OFFUTT III TRUST SCHOLARSHIP – $2,000

The Daniel E. Offutt III Trust Scholarship is being offered to a current Southeast Section 99s member, nearing completion of a certificate. This Scholarship covers all expenses related to the check ride – including aircraft rental and examiner fee up to $2,000.

Additional requirements:TWO (2) letters of recommendation from:

  1. your 99s Chapter Chair or Co-Chair; and
  2. your CFI or someone who has flown with you.

Currently enrolled in a flight school Available for Zoom or for a short interview in person Funds will be paid directly to the flight school. An invoice for the expenses incurred will be required.

Limitations:Proof of US citizenship or permanent residency Copy of FAA written test results, if applicable Member of the 99s Southeast Section  Funds available up to December 9, 2024.

Other information:If awarded, the recipient is expected to thank, in writing, the Offutt Charitable Trust Fund. Give the chapter permission to post a photo and a brief personal biography to recognize your achievement on the chapter's website.

Deadline for applications:  must be submitted in full via email by November 30, 2023 (Award notification: by December 15, 2023)

LEE & NANCY BUECHLER AND SRQ99s RETURN TO FLYING SCHOLARSHIP – $2,000

The Sarasota Ladybugs Chapter is offering this scholarship on behalf of Lee & Nancy Buechler to a current Southeast Section 99s member, who is active in her 99s chapter and serious about her pursuit of a return to flying after an extended time away (minimum two years).

Additional requirements:For rating/certificate on the application form, indicate "Return to Flying". The medical certificate is not required at the time of this application, but it will provide additional weight to your score, if provided, as it indicates desire and intent. TWO (2) letters of recommendation: a 99s Chapter Chair or Co-Chair; and your CFI or someone who has flown with you. Answer all essay questions on the Scholarship Registry application (see Instructions to Applicants, Item 4).

ALSO add an additional page to answer:What is your level of financial need on scale 1 (low) and 5 (high) and why? What flight school are you enrolled in, or would you use? How frequently do you participate with your local 99s chapter and in what role? How long was your absence from flying and why? Copy of the last three pages of your logbook Proof of US citizenship or permanent residency Available for an online video conference interview only if need it.

Limitations:Active member of the 99s Southeast Section and your local chapter If you do not hold a current medical, one must be provided within 30 days of being selected as a scholarship winner, or the scholarship may be passed to the runner-up. Funds will be paid directly to the flight school in which you are enrolled. Invoice and/or receipts from the flight school will be requested to disburse scholarship funds. Funds must be disbursed by December 9, 2024. Incomplete applications will be rejected without notification. It is the applicant's responsibility to confirm the application was submitted successfully by checking for (and keeping) the confirmation email.
