INTENT TO SEEK ELECTION PACKET

Election Year 2027

All candidates for International elective positions must file an "Intent to Seek Election" form according to the instructions appearing with the form. Candidates must meet the qualifications as outlined in the Bylaws and Standing Rules.  Each candidate considering running for an elected position should be familiar with the governing documents, including but not limited to: Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, Standing Rules, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Board Operating Procedures (BOPs) which are located in the library in the Members Only Section of the Ninety-Nines website.

All members of the International Board of Directors (IBOD) must attend three IBOD meetings per year. The spring and fall IBOD meetings are held at the preferred and default location of our Headquarters, Oklahoma City; the annual meeting is held at the site of the Annual International Conference. All three meetings may require the IBOD members to arrive one or two days early for pre-conference, finance, and other business meetings.

The IBOD shall be composed of the four (4) officers, and four (4) directors. These are two (2) year terms with a maximum of 2 consecutive terms in each position.  The immediate past president shall be an ex-officio voting member of the IBOD who serves for one (1) term after her presidency.

INTERNATIONAL OFFICERS - The elected officers shall be a president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer.

INTERNATIONAL DIRECTORS - The non-officers of the IBOD consist of four Directors, with two Directors elected in odd-years and two Directors in even-years.

THE IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT serves on the Board for one term after her presidency.  She takes part as a full Board member, with the same responsibilities as other IBOD members, including attending Board meetings.  The Past President helps ensure smooth leadership transitions and organizational stability.

Serving as a member of the Board requires substantial time and constant communication with other members and with the membership in general.  Each member of the Board must possess excellent communication skills and should have regular access to computer(s) and the internet.  A Board member is expected to write all reports to other Board members after representing the President at a Section meeting or other meetings she may be required to attend.  Additionally, each Director acts as a liaison with one or more International Committees of The Ninety-Nines and is expected to attend as many Section meetings as possible.

A term for an officer or director shall be two years, and all officers and directors shall serve no more than two consecutive terms in the same office. The responsibilities of each elective position available this year are within the packet.  Please read and understand them prior to submitting an “Intent to Seek Election” form. The NOMINATING COMMITTEE is comprised of five elected members with two members elected in odd years and three elected in even years. These are two (2) year terms, with a maximum of two consecutive terms in each position.

The 99s TRUSTS serve a very important part of our organization. They are responsible for the successful utilization of the Amelia Earhart Scholarship and Endowment funds, and the tangible and historical assets of the AE Birthplace Museum and the Museum of Women Pilots.  Each Trust has specific candidate criteria to be met before the candidates' Intent submission to the Nominating Committee.  Each Trust vets its candidates who then submit the Intent to Seek Election packet in the traditional process. These are three year terms, with a maximum of two consecutive terms.

Please become familiar with the roles and responsibilities prior to  submitting an “Intent to Seek Election” form.
