According to current statistics, one out of eight women will find out that she has breast cancer. This has affected many of our members and will continue to do so in the future until a cure for breast cancer is discovered. HOW IT WORKS
_________: Local Women Pilots Spread Their Wings and the Word for awareness of Breast Cancer. These women are participating in an exciting annual Fly for the Breast Cancer Cure. The Ninety-Nines International Organization of Women Pilots has sanctioned this event. The Ninety-Nines have a rich history and have been organized, operated and celebrated by many famous aviatrixes. The first president of the organization was Amelia Earhart. The focus of the organization has not changed since its inception over three quarters of a century ago. The mission is still to promote world fellowship through flight, provide networking and scholarship opportunities for women, provide aviation education in the community and preserve the unique history of women in aviation. During the year, pilots all over North America will be collecting pledges for every hour they fly. One in 8 women is afflicted at sometime in their life with this disease. That said it would be hard to meet a man or a woman who has not been affected by the terms of this disease in some facet. This event creates another facet of awareness to this plague by catching the attention of the public and celebrating at the joys of flight. This press release is an invitation to the media to contact
The Ninety-Nines International for more information on this event,
and/or to connect with local women for interviews. This event
and those involved offer interesting opportunities for human
interest stories. --END-- Donna Moore Betty Huck Shelley Ventura |
